The 50th All Manipur Shumang Leela Festival, 2021-22 will be held at the Iboyaima Shumang Leela Shanglen, Palace Compound from 27th August. The festival is organised by the Manipur State Kala Akademi, Imphal.
The inaugural function will be held on 27th August at 3 pm. A play “Mareibak Ningba Koirensana” will be stages as part of the inaugural function. Tomba, L. Ibotombi, Chourjit, S. Hemanta, Oken, Tampha, Heramoti, Oinam Arun and Bishesh are among the renowned actors acted in the play.
There will be two groups in the festival, namely Women shumang leela and male shumang leela groups. All together fourteen (14) women groups and eleven (11) male groups will participate in the festival.
The competition will begin from 28th August (Sunday), where “Khamba Nongban” by The Imphal Theatre and “Rajarshi Bhagyachandra”by Women Dance and Dramatic Union will be stage on the first day.
The competition of the male group will begin from 4th September (Saturday), where “Nongthangambi” by Nongin Shumang Leela Artists Association will be staged at 2 pm. “Kegegi Yum” by Poklenpokpa and “Mutlaroidaba Machu” by Peace Maker Artists Association will be stage on the second and third day of the festival respectively.
The festival will conclude on September 14 (Tuesday).
