Heirok violence: MLA Radheshyam’s brother among six arrested

Six people were reportedly arrested by the Manipur Police on Friday in connection with recent violence and the killing of a 18-year-old college student in Heirok part-II, Mayai Leikai, Thoubal district. The deceased Ningthoujam Rohit was shot by some masked persons at point blank range on December 21. He died while rushing to a private hospital in Imphal. His father, N. Premchandra was also seriously wounded in the firings.

Family members of N. Rohit and the JAC concerned agreed to claim the body after Chief Minister N.Biren Singh reportedly assured to arrest all assailants within two days.

3) Laishram Biken Singh (23) S/O L. Bimol Singh of Heirok Part 2 Mayai Leikai

4) Thokchom Bishworjit @ Putro Singh (40) S/O Th. Ibochouba Singh of Heirok Part 2 Thokchom Leikai

5) Ningthoujam Panan Singh (30) S/O N. Muhindro Singh of Heirok Part 3 Tourangbam Leikai

6) Thokchom Sanathoi @ Lai Singh (34) S/O Th. Dijen @ Lakpati Singh of Heirok Part 2 Mayai Leikai.

The two prominent candidates in this constituency for the upcoming assembly elections are former Police Officer and minister T. Radheshyam and former Minister and ex-President of the MPCC M. Okendro.
