Manipur: Assam Rifles Commanding Officer, family members, 3 soldiers killed in ambush

Convoy of a Commanding Officer of an Assam Rifles unit was ambushed allegedly by militants near Sialsi village under Behiang Police Station of Churachandpur district, Manipur. Family members of officer along with Quick Reaction Team were in convoy.

Commanding officer Colonel Viplab Tripathi of 46 Assam Rifles, his wife and son and four paramilitary force personnel were reportedly killed after militants ambushed their convoy. Commanding officer Viplav Tripathy had visited his  Behiang Coy post on November 12, 2021 and was returning back. Initial indications are that People’s Liberation Army (PLA) was behind the incident.

Condemning the 'cowardly attack', Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh said, "The State forces & Para military are already on their job to track down the militants. The perpetrators will be brought to justice."

Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said at least five (5) personnel of Assam Rifles and two of their family members lost their lives in the attacked.
