President Droupadi Murmu on the opening address of the Budget Session on Tuesday outlined the policies of the government that has helped India in cementing its position as an economic powerhouse on the global stage. She spoke about how the government faced tough challenges during the COVID years and how the policies helped in fighting poverty. This is President Murmu's first address to the joint sitting of Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha members after assuming office last July. The President said “the Economic Survey,Digital India, 5G technology are receiving recognition the world over and India is becoming a high tech hub for knowledge”.

She said the government has transferred more than Rs 27 lakh crore via DBT. “More than three lakh crore rupees of transactions have happened on Government e-marketplace till now”, she said.

Further, she said government e-marketplace has seen transactions worth over Rs 3 lakh crore and India's digital network has become an inspiration for the world.

“The big change that has been brought about is that the world is seeing us differently, people are more confident”, she added.
