PM Modi To Inaugurate 36th National Games Today

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the 36th National Games at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad today.

The Prime Minister will address athletes from across the country taking part in the National Games. Union Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Anurag Singh Thakur and other dignitaries will attend the opening ceremony.

National Games are being held in the state of Gujarat for the very first time. It will continue till 12th October.

The 36th edition of the National Games, which will be officially called open on Thursday, have already become a case study for future hosts. “We could manage to do everything in 100 days,” said Gujarat sports minister Harsh Sanghvi.

National Public broadcaster AIR reported that nearly 15 thousand sportspersons, coaches, and officials from across the country will be participating in 36 sports disciplines, making it the biggest National Games ever. The sporting events will be organised in six cities of Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Surat, Vadodara, Rajkot and Bhavnagar.
