‘75 Creative Minds of Tomorrow' segment inaugurated at 53rd edition of IFFI

Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Anurag Singh Thakur has inaugurated the '75 Creative Minds of Tomorrow' segment at IFFI 53 in Goa. 

Seventy-five young and aspiring filmmakers and artists from across India’s diverse regions have been selected to participate in the event. The 75 creative minds have been shortlisted and selected on the basis of their submissions by an eminent jury.

Taking part in the inaugural ceremony, the Minister congratulated the 75 young film talent who have been selected from across the country. He said that the young talent has a bright future and they will take wings after today.

The Minister said this platform will help in nurturing and networking for budding filmmakers. He said the film industry is also a Creative economy for our country as soft power. Referring to women's participation at IFFI, he said that over 40 percent of films being screened at IFFI are by women and 11 women are part of the creative minds of tomorrow initiative.

The applicants were narrowed down by a jury that included lyricist and screenwriter Prasoon Joshi, director R Balki, musician Rickey Kej, cinematographer Ravi K Chandran, actor Gautami and Oscar-winning sound recordist Resul Pookutty (“Slumdog Millionaire”).

The selected talents hail from different aspects of filmmaking – crafts and performance – and are all between the ages of 18-35. The participants are divided into filmmaking and creative departments including direction, script writing, playback singing, editing, art design and acting.
