Heroin Worth Rs 10.4 Crore Siezed in Assam's Kachudrama (Cachar)

Radhanagar Battalion of Agartala Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of Inspector General Assam Rifles (East), seized a record catch of 2.6 kg Heroin worth Rs. 10.4 Crore from Village Kachudrama, under Kachudrama PS, Cachar District, Assam on 1st of March, 2023.

Based on a piece of credible information, the Jaliura company of the Radhanagar Battalion and Sonai PS launched a joint operation in the region. Later the team seized 2.6 Kg of Heroin worth Rs. 10.4 Crore.

The seized drugs were handed over to Sonai PS, Cachar District, Assam on 01 Mar 2023 for further investigation and legal proceedings.

The operation was taken up after interrogation of the culprits apprehended by the Jaliura company of Radhanagar Battalion and Sonai PS on 28 Feb 2023 at Sadim Bazar, Cachar District.

This is considered to be the biggest seizure in the area in recent times. Inputs suggest that the money generated from Drug trafficking is being channelized into narco-terrorism activities of various insurgent groups in the northeast posing a threat to national security.

Assam Rifles highlighted its commitment to ensuring national security and a drug-free society.
