KBCC Pays Homage to the Brave Souls of the Farmers Union; Calls PM’s Withdrawal Announcement a success of the Farmers

Kakching, 20th November 2021: Kakching Block Congress Committee (KBCC) in association with Kakching District Congress Committee (DCC) paid homage to the 700 Braveheart souls who sacrificed their lives during the Farmers’ Protest for the last one and half years in the National Capital Regions (NCR) against the three contentious farm laws at the KBCC’s office today.
Speaking on the occasion, E. Manglem, President, DCC-Kakching District said that the BJP faced a massive defeat at the Assembly and parliamentary election in some states owing to the three contentious farm laws passed under BJP led Government headed by, Prime Minister Narendra Modi. So, afraid of the same result in the assembly elections of the five states in the early part of 2022, the PM announced the repeal of the controversial farm laws this winter session of parliament.
Ksh. Ibohal, President, Kakching Block Congress Committee said, “Had the BJP led Government consulted the leaders of farmers ’union, agricultural institutions and deputy commissioners, the uproar, the protest, and the violence wouldn’t have happened. And the lives of the 700 brave souls could have been saved.”
The president paid homage to the deceased souls by praising their supreme sacrifices. He also thanked the PM for his announcement regarding the repeal of the farm laws however late it be.
Terming the announcement day as the success of the farmers, Yengkhom Nilachandra, intending candidate of INC, Kakching A/C said it seemed as if PM Narendra Modi has finally accepted what Rahul Gandhi and Rakesh Tikiat, leader of Bharatiya Kishan Union, said about the farm laws when it came into effect on 5th June 2020. He added that the fear of losing in the Assembly and Parliamentary elections, 2022 compelled them to announce the repeal of the act.
Ksh. Kennedy, intending candidate of INC, Kakching AC INC said that the fear of losing in Assembly and Parliamentary Elections, the BJP lead Govt under Narendra Modi 2024 compelled them to pretend to care for farmers by announcing the withdrawal of the controversial farm laws. He asked people to realize this and vote for the secular Congress party in the larger interest of the people and the farmers.
The function was attended by Committee Ksh. Ibohal, President Block Congress, E. Manglem, President, DCC-Kakching District, and three intending Candidates, Kakching AC and former Municipal Council Chairperson, M. Inakhunbi, and former councilors M. Ummaa and M. Memcha.
