Mathiupuang Gangmei of Nungba A/C Resolves to not contest 12th Assembly election
Since the BJP ticket for Nungba A/C was allotted to Dinganglun Gangmei (IAS) the aspiring BJP candidate Mathiupuang Gangmei resolves to not contest the 12th Assembly election. A press release undersigned by Convenor Gaikhangdon Pameia stated that a Meeting of the Election Steering Committee and supporters of Mathiupuang Gonmei, 54-Nungba (ST) A/C, Manipur was held on 4th January 2022 at Ramgailong, Langol Laimanai, Imphal with Gaikhangdon Pamei, Aking Gangmei and Majhot Gonmei as Convenor, Secretary, and Recording Secretary respectively. BJP Manipur Pradesh President, Smt. A. Sharda Devi also attended the meeting and shared the story of her political journey. She comforted the supporters of Shri Mathiupuang Gonmei and appeal to them to remain loyal to the Party and in turn, she assured the gathering that the services of Gonmei would be used for the larger interest of the Party.
After having a threadbare and in-depth discussion, the following resolutions were adopted unanimously.
1. The Meeting reaffirmed to continue to support the leadership of Shri Mathiupuang Gonmei.
2. It is resolved that Mathiupuang Gonmei would not contest the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly Election.
However, it stated that whenever he decides to contest the election again in the future, the supporters of Mathiupuang Gonmei will extend full cooperation and support him in the “Mission for Change, Development and Social Justice.”
3. The Meeting unanimously authorized Mathiupuang Gonmei to take the final decision regarding whom to support in the 12th Assembly Election, 2022 in consultation with the Election Steering Committee. The supporters of Mathiupuang Gonmei agreed to support whichever candidate he endorses.
4. The Meeting appealed to all concerned for Free and Fair Election in the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly Election, 2022.
