Stones Rained on at a House on Hoisting Congress Flag in Heirok
Thoubal, 17th December 2021: A group of suspected BJP workers pelted numerous concrete stones at the house of one Moirangthem Ram Bira of Laishram Leirak in Heirok Part I Mamang Leikai under Heirok Constituency today at around 13:30 following a flag hoisting program at the latter’s residence.
Ram Bira organised a Flag Hoisting Program for Indian National Congress Party at his residence. Former Minister M. Okendro also came to attend the function. But an hour or so after the former Minister left the venue, the alleged BJP supporters down poured stones at the house and broke the entire sound system equipment. They were also reported to have beaten some individuals present there at the residence.
On hearing the news, Thoubal Police Team and the Heirok Police thronged in at once to keep the attack under control. On fearing further repercussions, extra forces have been deployed in the region. Certain restrictions have been imposed on the movement of people and the region is under strict security vigilance and protection to stop any untoward incidents later on.
