Japan, South Korea end campaign in FIFA World Cup

As Japan and South Korea suffer defeat in the hand of Croatia and Brazil on the round of sixteen, their dream campaign to enter quarter finals in the ongoing FIFA World Cup end abruptly.
Following a 1-1 stalemate that right in the extra time, Croatia beat Japan 3-1 in the first penalty shootout of the 2022 World Cup, courtesy of Croatia’s Dominik Livakovic’s three saves.
Japan took the towards the end of the first half as Daizen Maeda scored from a header. Croatia would also use the same way to equalise, early in the second half. Ivan Perisic scored his 10th goal at major tournaments, surpassing Davor Suker to become Croatia’s top scorer at major events.
In another match, Brazil defeated South Korea 4-1 at Stadium 974 and advanced to the quarterfinals. Five-time champions Brazil showcased a performance worthy of their favourites tag to storm into the quarter-finals of the FIFA World Cup 2022.
eymar made a goalscoring return to action after injury at Stadium 974, but Brazil's superstar was only one element of a devastating performance that ripped South Korea to shreds and settled this last-16 game well before half-time. It was Neymar's 76th goal for Brazil, leaving him just one behind the legendary Pele's all-time record.
