"Gogocha Chungkham" - The Rising Star in U-17 Indian Football

A little boy from Wangoi Makha Leikai, seventeen (17) kilometers to the south of Imphal, rose to fame when he scored seven(7) goals and assisted five (5) in his eight (8) appearances in the Hero U-17 Youth Cup -2022-23 held in Hyderabad. He also scored a hat trick during the Championship against PSFA during the Quarter Finals.

Gogocha Chungkham showed his brilliance on the pitch during the whole Championship. And because of his sensational performance in the Hero U-17 Youth Cup - 2022-23, he has been invited to Selection Trial with U-17 National Team by the All India Football Federation. He is leaving Imphal on Saturday, the 4th of February, and will report to the Team Manager, AIFF Training Center, South Goa, Goa - 403602.

Born to Chungkham Devendro Singh and Chungkham Ongbi Usharani Devi from Wangoi Makha Leikai, Gogocha began to play football from Kinder Garden. He got his training from WAFA (Wangoi Football Association) under the guidance of Oja Ratan (Coach), Oja Sana (Coach), and Oja Khogen (Coach) during the Presidentship of Longjam Achouba and W. Jadu. The young Midfielder also got his training from Langthabal under the guidance of Oja Ruhikanta (Coach). Then, he moved to Toubungkhok and received further training from Oja Somorjit (Coach) from Phumlou, Oja Loken (Coach), and Oja Uttam (Coach) from Heirangoithong during his formative stage.

The young sensation and the rising star of U-17 Indian Football played for Neroca for Under-13 I-League under head Coach Oja Nobin and Oja Roben. Then, he went for a trial at Bengaluru and got selected for Bengaluru FC. He stayed at the club for one year. And then came back home and joined Classic Football Academy under Head Coach Rennedy. He is presently playing for Classic Football Academy.

Classic Football Academy clinched the Hero U-17 Youth Cup 2022-23 after beating Sudeva Delhi FC 2-0 in the final at the Deccan Arena, Hyderabad, on Tuesday, the 31st of January 2023.
