Suspected Brown Sugar Worth Eleven Crores Seized in Manipur

A team of Imphal East District Police Commando, on Sunday evening, arrested two persons in possession of 8.11 kilograms of suspected
brown sugar worth 11 Crores in the international market from Kiyamgei Thongkhong.

The two arrested have been identified as Md. Abdul Salam (47 years) from Lilong Yangbi Leikai and Md. Washim Akram (19 years)Lilong
Mairenkhul under the jusrisdiction of Lilong Police Station.

As per a police source, around 6.30 pm on Sunday, a combined team of Imphal East Police Commando headed by Kh. Pathou, Officer-in-Charge,
Heingang Police Station, and Kh. Henry, OC Lilong Police station under the supervision of M. Pradip, SP Imphal East District arrested the
two in possession of the suspected brown sugar while conducting frisking of the passers-by at Kiyamgei Thongkhong. The two,
the source furthered, carried the suspected brown sugar in eight polythene bags, and they weighed 8.11 kg when measured.

The team also seized the auto-rickshaw bearing registration number MN 01-AL-9145, a bag, a mobile handset, an aadhaar card, and Rs 2730.
in cash.

The two individuals arrested and the seized articles have been handed over to Irilbung Police station for necessary legal actions.
