Gourav Jatra Thoubal: Former CM Persuades People to Protect the State's Independence Earned through the Sacrifice of Our Great Ancestors

In connection to the 75th Independence Day, Manipur Pradesh Gongress Committee organized a movement on Friday from Wangjing to Wangban in observation of INC's Azadi ka Gourav Jatra.

On the way to their Gourav Jatra, CLP Leader O. Ibobi, MPCC's President MLA K. Meghachandra, Congress MLAs, and executive members of the Party visited the historic Kheba Ching in Khongjom and paid floral tribute to the patriots who sacrificed their lives fighting against the British.

While Party president MLA K. Meghachandra flagged off the Gourav Jatra from Wangjing Kodompokpi, marched till Thoubal DC Gate and concluded in Wangbal.

Paying floral tribute to the martyrs of Manipur at Kheba Ching, the CLP leader said that INC's Gourav Jatra began from the 9th of August by paying floral tribute to the statue of our great freedom fighter - Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose at INA Moirang.

The CLP leader continued that the party organized the movement and paid the floral tributes in rememberance of the sacrifices of the myrtyrs for India and the state respectively. The patriots sacrificed their lives in their fight for the freedom of the state, the leader added.

The party's visit to Kheba Ching where the Manipuris fought their last battle of the Anglo Manipur with the British is just to show that we never forget the sacrifices they made and we will always hold them dear with respect, said the former CM.

The team paid homage to the staue of Paona Brajabashi and also held a small rite in the Khongjom River, the CLP leader said.

With pride at heart for the supreme sacrifices the patriots contributed for us, the leader insisted everyone to protect and preserve the independence of the state that our fallen patriots presented through the sacrifice of their lives.

The party also has plans to organize direct meeting and discussion with the people all around Manipur. The party will discuss the rise in price of commodities, unemployment problems in the state, rise in GST rates, etc., said the CLP lrader
