Upon seeing students in school uniforms loitering during school hours in and around places other than school campuses and bunking their normal classes, the government has set some new laws to be implemented in schools in the state.
According to the new laws, School authorities, teaching and non-teaching staff, and the students should perform and abide by the new laws. The new laws include,
- School Authorities should ensure that all the teachers take attendance of the students for each period. Students having attendance below 75% shall not be eligible for any activity in the school including examinations. The remaining 25% shall be allowed only with leave sanctioned on relevant grounds through an application submitted by the parent.
- Each school authority shall issue Photo Identity Card to all the students with their relevant details so that the students can be easily identified by their uniform and photo identity card.
iii. Principal/School Authority shall ensure that the students do not leave the school campus during school hours without the approval of the Principal or the headmaster. Students shall wear their school uniforms along with school photo identity cards while they are in school and for other school-related activities.
- Principal/Headmaster should contact the parent of any student in case any student is not following the guidelines.
- All teaching and non-teaching staff shall remain within the school premises during school hours.
- School students are usually below 18 years of age and are ineligible to drive or ride motor vehicles. Therefore, they are using vehicles without valid driving licenses. The police department is being requested to invariably check for licenses of all such students seen driving motor vehicles in school uniforms.
