As part of the ongoing drive against illegal constructions in the state, the Forest department demolished a new house built illegally near Tarung Forest Beat Office, at Compartment No. 3, Lamdeng Block under Sardar Hills Range today.

Earlier yesterday, Forest staff went to places near Tarung Forest Beat Office and asked the residents to remove all the illegal constructions. However, the residents said that they would kill the staff and frighten them with dire consequences. The staff retreated them at once from the place.

However, with Range Officer Jobid Meitei of Sadar West as the head along with the staff of Central Forest Division, Sawombung Range Officer and Lamphel Police OC and his Team passed through the region and demolished the newly built house.

As per Forest Department, the residents there had been instructed not to build any new structures in the reserved forest area long ago. And there also had been evictions of many illegal structures in various parts of Langol Reserved Forest Area. And the department can rightfully demolish any of the newly built illegal houses or other structures in the region.

A case would also be registered against those residents who directly warned and frightened to kill the forest staff, said the Range Officer.

Earlier on September 9, the Sadar West Team of the Central Forest Division also evicted a new structure built in the Leimakhulen area of Langol Reserved Forest.
