Linthoi’s Unnatural Death: JAC Demands Judicial Inquiry

Thoubal, Dec 2: JAC against the suspicious death of Linthoi has demanded a judicial inquiry into the unnatural death of Linthoi from Khangabok Part III. The committee has also sought the concerned authorities to probe the matter and discover the truth behind the death.

In an interaction with media in Khangabok Part III, Th. Rosan, co-convenor of the JAC, said that Ksh Ongbi Nungshitombi @Linthoi (22 years) recently got married on November 30 to Kshetrimayaum Mahesh (25 years) of Kakching Laithagol Leikai Kshetri Pareng under Kakching Police station. But she was told to have killed herself by consuming bleaching powder at the in-law’s house. However, the death sounds so unnatural and requires an immediate probe into the matter. A public meeting was summoned and JAC against the suspicious death of Linthoi has been formed and collectively resolved a charter of demands regarding the suspicious death.
The charter of demands includes
A judicial inquiry, be done to find out the true reasons for the unnatural death and its causes.
The JAC is to take up strong protest movements till the state steps in and finds out the truth behind the unnatural death.
The JAC said that it strongly believes the state act immediately and help them find out the truth behind the death.

Laishram (o) Ishabi Devi, sister-in-law of the deceased, said that Linthoi’s mother-in-law Ksh (o) Ibemcha Devi informed her that Lathoi was being taken to the hospital and she would require money. However, she never told her why Linthoi was being taken to the hospital. And when Linthoi’s paternal family reached the hospital, she had taken her last breath.
The entire thing sounded so fishy and they doubted murder or abetment to suicide, said the sister-in-law. She also asked to probe into the matter and find out the truth behind it.

Indicating suspicion in the death, ex-Pradhan M Manglemjao of Khangabok Part III GP said that the entire thing is highly suspicious of unnatural death. The body, he said, is darkened, and fluids started coming off it. The body features are not indicative of a fresh death but of a death that happened hours ago, added the ex-pradhan.
There also has been false news circulating that the in-law’s family has settled the matter and come to terms with the Paternal family of the deceased. This entire thing is just false and there is no sort of agreement between the families. He also urged the government to initiate a judicial inquiry into the matter and find out the truth
