Chief Minister N Biren Singh, opposition leader O Ibobi singh and several dignitaries paid floral tributes tributes to Jubraj Tikendrajit and Thangal General at Hicham Yaicham Pat and Thangal General Complex on Saturday.
Several leaders extended their warm greetings to the people of Manipur on the occasion of Patriots' Day, observed every year on August 13.
Taking to Facebook, the Chief Minister said “their courage and selfless sacrifices in fighting the mighty British empire will continue to inspire the future generations”.
Further, the Chief Minister said “humble tributes to our brave forefathers who laid down their lives for the dignity, integrity and sovereignty of Manipur on this Patriots’ Day. It was on this day that Bir Tikendrajit & Thangal General were hanged to death for resisting the British imperialism. This day will be remembered as one of the darkest days in the history of Manipur”.
On Friday, Governor La Ganesan extended warm greetings to the people of Manipur on the occasion of Patriots' Day. In his message Governor La Ganesan said that Patriots' Day reminds us of our heroic forefathers like Bir Tikendrajit, Thangal General, Chirai Naga, Pukhrambam Kajao, Niranjan Subedar and a host of other martyrs who made supreme and selfless sacrifice for the cause of the freedom of their motherland.
