The Manipur Cabinet on Monday approved the convening of the much-anticipated monsoon session of the state assembly on August 29, four days before the expiry of the deadline to hold it. Earlier, the State Cabinet had, on August 4, recommended to the Manipur Governor for summoning the 4th session of the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly on August 21.
It earlier gave the go-ahead for the beginning of the session on August 21 but the assembly could not be convened for the want of governor Anusuiya Uikey’s assent.
The Governor’s office summon the 4h Session of the Twelfth Manipur Legislative Assembly to meet at 11.00 am on Tuesday, the 29h August, 2023 in the Assembly Hall, Imphal. Ten Kuki lawmakers have also refused to participate in the session citing security concerns.
