Sangai Festival 2022: Prime Minister Modi to Address the Closing Ceremony of the Sangai Festival; CM Declares half-day holidays

The ongoing 11th edition of the most prominent splendor, the Manipur Sangai Festival this year witnessed one of the biggest extravaganzas of Manipur. The 10-day-long fanfare hosting across fourteen venues in six districts of the northeastern state also witnessed a massive public turnout.
In the public interest Chief Minister N. Biren Singh has also announced two half-day holidays on the 29th and 30th of November in connection to the ongoing Sangai Festival.

Announcing on Sunday, the 27th of November, the chief minister said that he was pleased the state would observe a half-day holiday on November 29th and 30th in connection with the Sangai Festival 2022.

During these last two days, the chief minister also urged the people of the state to support the festival and attend the Festival of Oneness.

While Prime Minister Narendra Modi will speak at the festival's closing function on November 30 at Hapta Kangjeibung via video conferencing.

A statement from the PMO New Delhi released the confirmation on Sunday through social media.

Earlier, President Droupadi Murmu or Prime Minister Narendra Modi was supposed to attend the inaugural function of the Sangai Festival. However, the plan was dropped owing to some unavoidable circumstances. And Tourism & Culture/DoNER union minister Kishan Reddy inaugurated the festival at Moirang Khunou in the Bishnupur district.
Manipur CM Biren Singh further said that the state witnessed a massive and radical transformation under the BJP government, and is on the way to achieving the goal of becoming a tourist hub, said the chief minister.

The number of spectators also has surged in all the venues of the Sangai festival, and it has resulted in traffic jams, particularly in Imphal and on Tiddim road, a report said.
