The Government of Manipur deported 38 Myanmar nationals, including one child, to their home country on Tuesday (June 11, 2024,) at around 11:00 am. The deportation took place through the Integrated Check Post (ICP) at Moreh, where the individuals were handed over safely to Myanmar authorities by Indian immigration officers.
This deportation follows an earlier process on May 2, 2024, when another group of 38 Myanmar nationals, including children, was deported through the same ICP. Both groups had been apprehended for illegal entry into the state under the Foreigners Act, 1946.
During their detention, the Myanmar nationals were provided with basic amenities and medical facilities. The deportation was coordinated with the Ministry of External Affairs and security forces. The Manipur Government remains committed to deporting all illegal immigrants from the state.
