Amidst the ongoing ethnic conflict in Manipur, the Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) organized a rally titled 'Manipur Kanba Khongchat' on Friday. The event, starting from Thangmeibamd Thau Ground, saw thousands of participants from various communities, including Kabui, Tangkhul, Meitei Pangals, gather to demand the maintenance of the State's integrity.
The rally, covering nearly 5 km through the heart of Imphal, was a powerful demonstration of unity. Participants, including elderly men, Meira Paibi, students held posters and banners with messages such as "Save indigenous and rightful citizens of India," "No separate administration," and "Save territorial integrity of Manipur."
COCOMI’s demands include the implementation of the National Register of Citizens (NRC) exercise, the termination of agreements with Kuki insurgent groups, unbiased combing operations in both the valley and the hills, the preservation of Manipur's territorial and administrative integrity, and the removal of buffer zones that hinder displaced people from returning home.
The rally reflects a strong call for unity and protection of the indigenous communities amidst the region's ongoing challenges.
