Hindu College, University of Delhi, announces the commencement of a Skill Training Program in Fragrance Formulations for Wellness Products. This initiative, driven by the Government of Manipur, is being organized in partnership with Ultra International Ltd and CSIR-CIMAP, Lucknow, under the esteemed mentorship of the Supreme Court appointed committee, headed by Hon’ble Justice Gita Mittal.
The intensive three-week program includes theoretical sessions, special lectures, hands-on training, industry visits, and excursions. The primary aim is to empower women from Manipur by equipping them with specialized skills in the fragrance industry. Thirty women from Manipur, including 15 internally displaced persons from recent crises, will undergo this rigorous training.
The program's inauguration was graced by Dr. Vineet Joshi, Chief Secretary of Manipur, as the Chief Guest. Mercina Panmei, IAS, Staff Officer to the Chief Secretary, attended as the Guest of Honour. Prof. Reena Jain, Vice Principal of Hindu College, delivered the opening remarks, highlighting the significance of skill training in the wellness industry. Prof. Anju Srivastava, Principal of Hindu College, warmly welcomed all participants, emphasizing the college's commitment to empowering young women. Dr. Vineet Joshi encouraged the trainees to seize this unique opportunity to expand their knowledge and work towards self-sustainability.
The hands-on training will cover essential oil extraction from lime/orange peel and clove buds, soap making, and the preparation of talcum powder, shampoo, and hand sanitizer. Upon completion, the State Government of Manipur will further enhance the trainees' skills by collaborating with the MSME Technology Centre in Imphal, equipped with distilleries and labs for producing these items.
Additionally, the Manipur State Rural Livelihood Mission (MSRLM) and Manipur Handloom and Handicrafts Development Corporation Ltd (MHHDC) will manage the procurement of goods produced at the relief camps. This initiative aims to provide livelihood opportunities to the residents of the relief camps by ensuring government offices in the state source their supplies from these inmates.
This program is a significant step towards creating self-sufficient, skilled professionals in the fragrance industry and fostering economic resilience among the women of Manipur.
