Annual five-day Haj pilgrimage begins today

The annual five-day Haj pilgrimage begins on Thursday. In the pilgrimage, millions of Muslims from across the world trek from holy city of Mecca to assemble in Mina in Saudi Arabia.
They will spend the night there and move towards the plains of Arafat at dawn tomorrow for the day`s main ritual of Haj-reciting prayers.
The pilgrims will spend the day there praying. More than 79 thousand pilgrims from India are participating in this year's pilgrimage.
Only those below 65 years of age and fully vaccinated against Covid-19 are allowed this year.
