51st All Manipur Shumang Leela Festival begins today

The 51st All Manipur Shumang Leela Festival, 2022-23 will be held at the Iboyaima Shumang Leela Shanglen, Palace Compound from today, i.e.,10th February, 2023. The festival is being organised by the Manipur State Kala Akademi, Imphal.
The inaugural function will be held on 10th February at 3 pm. Manipur Governor and Chairperson of Manipur State Kala Akademi La Ganeshan, MLA of Hiyanglam Assembly Constituency Y. Radheshyam will inaugurate the festival as Chief Guest and Guest of Honour respectively. At the function, the dignitaries will distribute the medals to the prize winner of the 50th All Manipur Shumang Leela Festival, 2021-22.
There will be two groups in the festival, namely Women shumang leela and male shumang leela groups. All together thirteen (13) women groups and thirteen (13) male groups will participate in the festival.
The competition will begin from 11th February (Saturday), where “Samu Khongyetpa” by Shiva Jatra cum Drama Association and the Chanura Jatra cum Drama Association will be stage on the first day.
The competition of the male group will begin from 18th (Saturday), where “Aronba Wari” by Sangai Artists Association will be staged at 2 pm. “Leepun” by Peace Maker Artists Association and “Washak Ama” by Iramdam Manipur Artiste Association will be stage on the 25th February and 02nd March of the festival respectively.
The festival will conclude on 2nd March (Thursday).
