Nagaland is all set to host the famed Hornbill Festival with much grandeur this time. The festival will be held after two years of subdued celebrations, and preparations are going on in full swing.

The festival will be held from December 1 to 10 at Naga Heritage Village, Kisama, which is located around 12 km from state capital Kohima, as per Advisor for Tourism and Art & Culture H. Khehovi Yepthomi. It will be the 23rd edition of the festival, which began in 2010. However, the celebrations were disrupted in 2020 and 2021, due to COVID related issues; this year's Hornbill Festival will be a grand affair with new ideas and concepts, Yepthomi said.

Quoting Nagaland’s Tourism and Art & Culture Advisor H Khehovi Yeputhomi, local daily Morung Express reported “every effort will be made to celebrate the upcoming 23rd Hornbill Festival 2022 in a grand manner and sought the cooperation and support of all the tribal hohos and stakeholders”.

“Hornbill Festival belongs to all Nagas and everyone has to contribute,” he said while addressing the coordination meeting with the tribal hohos at the Conference Hall of Directorate of Tourism, Kohima, for the upcoming festival.

Stating the policy behind the Hornbill Festival is to preserve and promote the Naga culture and traditions, he said “We are going to celebrate it in a grand manner this year.”
