Working journalists Union’s Vice President Beaten Up Black and Blue: Strong Condemnation from all Quarters

Thoubal, 25th October 2021: MLA, Th. Radheshyam strongly condemns the shocking incident of thrashing Elangbam Rameswor, a correspondent of vernacular newspaper Naharolgi Thoudang, and a series of demolishing houses and other brutal acts in Heirok A/C on the ground of political rivals. On Sunday morning about 20 persons, said to be members of the Block Congress of the Heirok constituency, allegedly raided the house of Elangbam Rameshwar. He was beaten up in the presence of his family members and was hospitalized as he sustained injuries from the attack.
The Journalist Union is also demanding appropriate actions against alleged Congress members for the attack. Several persons came out in the Heirok road to block traffic, demanding justice for the journalist.
Strong Condemnation from all Quarters
Ex MLA M. Okendro has also condemned the brutal act towards the media fraternity and allegedly blame the Heirok Police for not controlling the situation on time.
Until the case is resolved the journalist union has vowed to not cover any news of Heirok Kendra.
On the other side, the Congress party also claimed that houses with congress Flag were demolished. The Heirok Block Congress Committee also condemned the thrashing of a News Correspondent and the series of theft and demolition cases. They also alleged that several houses of Congress Supporters were also demolished and many belongings were looted including their livestock.
Thokchom Ranjan, President, Heirok Block Congress Committee, in a press conference, clarified that the news reports on the unidentified persons rushing towards Ex MLA, M. Okendra was completely baseless. Those houses, demolished and the residents, beaten up were all Congress Supporters and workers. This could never be the act of Congress, said Thockchom Ranjan President, Heirok Block Congress.

Khundongbam Asokumar Singh, S/O Apokpa Maniram, Khundongbam Bashi Singh, S/O Late Ibomcha, Laishram Binarani Devi, D/O Ramananda, Khundrakpam Sunil Singh, S/O Late Kumar Singh, Ningthoujam Kiranjit, S/O Lukhoi, Kh.Jony, S/O Late Samungou, Kh.Ingocha, S/O Late Nillamani amasung Hijam Ingobi, S/O Achouba.They all are from Heirok Part-II.
