Formal Election Notification Released for Thoubal and Kakching districts

Thoubal, 4th February 2022: Formal election notification regarding the 12th Manipur Vidhan Sabha Election has been released for Kakching and Thoubal districts by their respective Returning Officers today. The districts will conduct elections on the 3rd of March 2022 as part of the Second Phase Election.
No sooner did the formal election notification come out than all the candidates from 10 Assembly Constituencies belonging to different political parties and another 24 independent candidates came forward to collect the form for filing nominations. However, not a single candidate filed any nomination today.
Speaking on the election notification, the District Election Officer, Ahanthem Subhash said that the last date for filing nominations of the candidates is 11th February 2022. Any candidate can file nominations from 11 am to 3 pm through the concerned returning officer. Each candidate and official should follow strict adherence to Covid protocols. The DEO further said that only three persons including the candidate are allowed to enter the office of the returning officer while filing nominations.
Meanwhile, a video conference was also held with the officials appointed by the ECI to observe the expenditure of the election in the two districts. Thoubal has 6 Assembly Constituencies while Kakching has 4 Assembly Constituencies.The District Election Officer also urged everyone to co-operate the election offices to conduct the election peacefully.
