Scholarship Allowances Likely to be Disbursed before 15th November.
Imphal, 22 Oct, 2021: All Manipur Students’Union (AMSU) and hundreds of its members thronged in at MOBC office at Ragailong, Imphal, today as the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment fails to disburse scholarship allowances to the student beneficiaries in time.
The officials at MOBC have given words that they would start working on in 2-3 working days and pay the allowances out as latest by 15th of November 2021, a report says.
“The Union will wait till 15th of November but on failing on the part of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment to keep their words, they will resume their protest,” a member added.
It can be remembered that the Student Union had appealed the Ministry to pay out the allowances a month earlier on 7th September as well. But on non-performance on the side of the ministry, the students’ Union took a step further in their movement and even shut down the building of MOBC Department on 25th September 2021.
The union questions the merit of scholarship if they are not timely sanctioned to the needy students. It is this money, however little it be, that the students rely on for their study to some extent. If the scholarship is not delivered in time, there is no meaning to availing scholarships.
