Union Minister Amit Shah to visit Mizoram today; Security beefed up

Union Home Minister Amit Shah will be visiting Mizoram’s capital city Aizawl on Saturday.

Shah will pay a day-long visit to Mizoram on Saturday during which he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stones of various infrastructure projects, including Assam Rifles headquarters at Zokhawsang, which is 15 km away from Aizawl city, altogether worth Rs 2,414 crore.

Meanwhile, elaborative arrangements have been put in place by the State administration in and around Aizawl in view of the visit of the Home Minister.

Mizoram Inspector General of Police (Law and Order) Lalbiakthanga Khiangte said that all police units across the state have been alerted and proper security arrangements were made in the state capital. He said that strict vigilance is being maintained in the areas where the visiting Union Home Minister will move.

Chief Minister Zoramthanga also convened a meeting with officials and senior police officers on Friday to review preparedness in view of Shah’s visit. In this programme, the Home Minister will also lay the foundation stones for several infrastructural projects. He will lay the foundation stone for Laldenga Cultural Centre, a smart city project, Aizawl Bypass roads and several roadway projects for Aizawl, Champhai and Mamit districts.
