World Malaria Day is being observed on Tuesday, i., e April 25 every year across the country. It highlights the need for continued investment as well as sustained political commitment to the prevention of malaria and its control.

World Malaria Day this year will be marked under the theme “Time to deliver zero malaria: invest, innovate, implement” as per World Health Organization (WHO).

Within the theme, WHO will focus on 'implement' – and notably the critical importance of reaching marginalized populations with the tools and strategies that are available today, the WHO website read. Malaria symptoms include fever, chills, weakness and other flu symptoms.

India has witnessed over 85.1 per cent decline in malaria cases and 83.36 per cent reduction in deaths during the year from 2015 to 2022. Dr Mandaviya said, the country is making rapid progress towards eliminating Malaria by 2030.

The Union Minister said Malaria is not just a public health issue but also a social, economic and political challenge that requires the cooperation of all stakeholders.
