Amit Shah kicks off the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP's) campaign in Karnataka ahead of the upcoming assembly elections on April 21 with a three-day tour of the state.

Union Home Minister and senior BJP leader Amit Shah is on a two-day visit to poll-bound Karnataka. He will take out a roadshow in Devanahalli, on the outskirts of Bengaluru, and will also hold a meeting with senior party leaders regarding poll preparations. Both the Congress and the BJP have released their final list of candidates for the May 10 Assembly elections in the state. This will be his first visit to the state since the poll schedule was announced.

Many disgruntled BJP leaders have quit the party and joined the Congress after being denied tickets for the upcoming polls. Karnataka BJP leader and former minister KS Eshwarappa today shared a video of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's call to him.

In Devanahalli, the BJP leader will campaign for Pilla Munishamappa, who is running against incumbent JD(S) MLA L N Narayanaswamy and Congress candidate K H Muniyappa, a former Union minister and seven-time MP. Muniyappa, who was defeated in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, is running for the first time in the Assembly elections.

Voting will take place on May 10 and the counting of votes will be on May 13.
