Former Chief Minister Nongthombam Biren Singh has reiterated the Manipur government’s commitment to improving road connectivity across the state’s hills and valley regions through large-scale infrastructure development. He emphasized that major projects are currently in progress in Imphal West, Imphal East, and Highway South Division to enhance transportation and accessibility.
The ongoing road construction efforts include 20.3 km of State Highways, 32.5 km of Major District Roads (MDR), 18.8 km of Other District Roads, and an extensive 364.3 km network of Inter-Village Roads.
A key highlight of the initiative is the construction of all-weather concrete roads, designed for durability of up to 40-50 years, the former CM said. These roads are built to withstand harsh weather conditions and heavy traffic, significantly reducing maintenance costs while ensuring long-term benefits for the people of Manipur.
The government aims to bridge geographical divides, improve rural connectivity, and foster inclusive socio-economic growth across the state.
