The BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA), under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, is set to form the government at the Centre for a third consecutive term. In a unanimous decision during a meeting on Friday, newly-elected MPs chose Mr. Modi as their leader. He will take the oath as Prime Minister for the third time on June 9 at the Rashtrapati Bhavan.
Preparations for the swearing-in ceremony have led to the closure of the Rashtrapati Bhavan premises to the public from June 5 to June 9. The ceremony is scheduled for June 9 at 7:15 pm, as confirmed by the Rashtrapati Bhavan.
In the new cabinet, Chandrababu Naidu's Telugu Desam Party (TDP) is expected to secure four portfolios, while Nitish Kumar's Janata Dal (United) will get two berths. Citing reliable sources, media channels reported that potential TDP ministers include Ram Mohan Naidu, Harish Balayogi, and Daggumalla Prasad. The JDU is likely to propose Lalan Singh, a Lok Sabha MP from Bihar's Munger, and Ram Nath Thakur, a Rajya Sabha MP, for the cabinet positions.
This cabinet allocation was decided during an NDA meeting to finalize the government formation ahead of the swearing-in ceremony.
