Security Forces arrest five militants in multiple operations

Security forces have arrested five militants belonging to different proscribed outfits from Imphal East and Bishnupur districts in the last 24 hours, police said on Wednesday.
Two active cadres of the banned United National Liberation Front (Koireng faction) were apprehended for extorting money from trucks carrying goods in Imphal and Bishnupur districts. The accused have been identified as Thongam Ronaldo Singh (26) and Khuraijam Micheal Singh (28) of Lilong Arapti Maning Leikai, Imphal East. Security forces recovered three truck keys and two truck challans from their possession.
In a separate operation, security forces nabbed two militants of the banned Kangleipak Communist Party (PWG) from Thangtek Teramakhong, Bishnupur district. Identified as Wairakpam Jagatchandra Singh and Pebam Romen Singh, the duo was actively involved in extortion and had issued monetary demands to a shop, a doctor, an oil pump, and a private school in Imphal West and Nambol areas.
Additionally, police arrested one active member of SOREPA from Kongba in Imphal East district for extorting and threatening various government officials. The accused has been identified as Tayenjam Sanatomba Singh (43).
Meanwhile, during search operations and area domination exercises, security forces recovered a cache of arms and ammunition from Chingkhei Ching in Imphal East district.
The seized items include one 9mm pistol with magazine, one automatic single-barrel gun, three hand grenades with nine detonators, one .303 LMG, 144 live ammunition rounds, two INSAS LMG magazines, one INSAS rifle magazine, one radio wireless set and two bulletproof helmets.
Security forces continue intensified operations to curb militant activities and ensure law and order in the region.
