The All Manipur Students Guardians’ Organisation (AMSGO) has raised serious concerns following a recent question paper leak in the Class X and XII examinations conducted by the Board of Secondary Education Manipur (BOSEM) and the Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur (COSEM).
In a statement, AMSGO General Secretary Sumati Sougrakpam condemned the incident, stating that such malpractices undermine the credibility of the examination system and render the process meaningless.
Sumati Sougrakpam acknowledged the swift action taken by COSEM, BOSEM, and the Cyber Crime Police SP in identifying those responsible and implementing preventive measures to deter future breaches. However, the organization has urged the judiciary to reject bail applications of teachers from certain private English schools who are allegedly involved in disrupting the examination process.
AMSGO highlighted that the increasing emphasis on securing high pass percentages has led to unethical practices, including the distribution of leaked question papers and prepared notes, thereby compromising the integrity of the education system. The organisation warned that without strict measures, such incidents are likely to recur. It called on the government, education boards, and councils to carry out thorough scrutiny before granting recognition to schools, emphasizing that indiscriminate approvals without proper verification have contributed to a crisis in maintaining educational standards.
Expressing deep concern over the state of education in Manipur, AMSGO urged all stakeholders—government officials, school authorities, teachers, parents, and civil society—to work collectively to restore integrity in the education system. "The lack of ethics among teachers and accountability among parents is a major challenge. If these values continue to decline, the future of our children will be at risk," the organization stated, calling for immediate and decisive action to safeguard the educational future of the state.
