The Manipur Traffic Police recorded a sharp rise in traffic violations during the five-day Yaoshang festival, collecting ₹9.94 lakh in fines and issuing 522 challans across Imphal.
Ahead of the festival, authorities ramped up enforcement efforts to ensure road safety, with a focus on curbing drunken driving, triple-riding, underage driving, and reckless stunts on two-wheelers. Traffic police teams were strategically stationed at key intersections and high-risk areas to monitor compliance.
Between March 1 and March 18, 2025, a total of 2,023 traffic violations were registered, leading to fines amounting to ₹35.94 lakh. Officials have credited the strict enforcement measures for maintaining order on the roads and reiterated their commitment to ensuring safer streets in Manipur.
