After meeting Union Home Minister Amit Shah at New Delhi on Sunday, Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh said the “Union Home Minister advised us to strengthen our work towards achieving everlasting peace and also sought the cooperation of every stakeholder in Manipur to ensure that peace prevails in the State”.
Addressing a press conference at Imphal International airport, the Chief Minister said " a fresh round of dialogue will be initiated with Kuki community, civil society organisations, meira paibis and other stakeholders to restore peace and normalcy in the state.
“We will reach out to everyone, including the Kuki community. They are also ours. The home minister advised us to work as a team and bring peace to the State,” Chief Minister N. Biren Singh told The Hindu.
Chief Minister N. Biren Singh said we need to stand united and not play petty politics at this crucial juncture. The Union Home Minister Amit Shah assured that there is no question of a separate administration for the hill areas, he said.
Taking to Twitter, the Chief Minister said “under Amit Shah Ji’s close supervision, the State and Central Govt have been able to control the violence to a great extent in the past week. It may be noted that there has been no report of casualties due to the violence since the 13th of June”.
