The nation pays homage to the unifier of Modern India, Iron Man Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his 147th birth anniversary on Monday. The day is also celebrated as Rashtriya Ekta Diwas.
President Droupadi Murmu, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar and Home Minister Amit Shah paid floral tribute at the statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel at Patel Chowk in New Delhi.
In Manipur, the observation of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas is being held at the 1st Bn MR Parade Ground, Imphal West and was attended by state Chief Minister N. Biren Singh,
The Chief Minister said “the National Unity Day Parade is a mark of our commitment and dedication towards the nation’s unity and integrity which was founded by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Iron Man of India”. “I was joined by Hon’ble Ministers, MLAs and Senior Government officials”, the CM said.
