11th edition of Sangai festival begins

Chief Minister N. Biren Singh, Union Tourism Minister G Kishan Reddy along with several other dignitaries inaugurated the ‘Manipur Sangai Festival 2022’ at the Sangai Ethnic Park, Moirang Khunou in Bishnupur district on Monday. The 10-day-long festival will be held in 13 venues across six districts in the northeastern state till November 30.

The 10-day-long festival will be inaugurated by the Union Minister at Moirang Khunou in Bishnupur district. The theme for this year’s edition is ‘Festival of Oneness’. This year, the festival will be held in 13 venues across six districts.

There will be regular cultural performances by artists from different tribes of the state and the country, besides international artists and cultural troupes at the Bhagyachandra Open Air Theatre in Hapta Kangjeibung, where the closing ceremony will be held on November 30.

The festival will also feature World War II exhibitions, film screenings, Shumang Leela performance, flower shows, and theme parks, among others.

Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh also kicked off the first Chief Minister’s Sagol Kangjei Championship at Kangla in Imphal on Friday last week. The championship is being organised by the All-Manipur Polo Association as part of the Sangai Festival 2022 under the slogan “Save Manipuri Pony, Save Grazing Field and Revive Sagol Kangjei”.
