Nargis Fakhir, Sushmita Sen, and Lara Dutt to Walk Ramp in the upcoming Sangai Festival
Miss Universe winners and Bollywood actresses Sushmita Sen, Lara Dutta, and Nargis Fakhir will soon attend the upcoming Sangai Festival 2022. Sushmita Sen and Lara Dutt will walk the ramp for celebrated Manipuri Fashion Designer Robert Naorem.
Hollywood and Bollywood actress Nargis Fakhir will walk the ramp as a showstopper for renowned designer Kumarjit Laishram at the opening ceremony of the Sangai Festival at Moirang Khunou.
The Sangai Festival which will be the 11th edition will be marked with the theme "Festival of Oneness" after a gap of two years due to covid pandemic. The festival is going to celebrate with a host of events organized at thirteen venues across the state from 21st-30th November. Designer Robert Naorem known for his contribution to Manipuri handloom and textiles strives that Sushmita Sen and Lara Dutta's presence in the state will help boost the handlooms and textiles industry of Manipur across the globe.
Lara Dutta will walk the ramp as the showstopper for Robert Naorem at the Peace Ground in Churachandpur district on the 26th of November, while Sushmita Sen will walk the ramp as the showstopper during the closing ceremony of the Sangai Festival at Bhagyachandra Open Air Theatre (BOAT) in Imphal.
Announcing the news, Miss Universe 2000, Lara Dutta in a recorded video posted by Robert Naorem stated, " To all the lovely people in Manipur, I am really excited and looking forward to coming to Manipur for the first time for the Manipur Sangai Festival. I will be in Churachandpur on the 26th of November to walk as a showstopper for Designer Robert Naorem and support the handloom and textiles industry of Manipur. I am super excited and looking forward to my visit, and I hope to see you all there".
Organized by the Department of Tourism, this unique Festival will showcase the cultural diversity of the state, it will also showcase the state's tourism potential in the field of Arts & Culture, Handloom, Handicrafts, Indigenous Sports, Cuisines, Music, Songs and Dances, Adventure sports and heritage walk, etc.
Dubbed after the State Animal, The Sangai (Cervus Eldi Eldi), or the brow-antlered deer, the festival celebrates the uniqueness of its only home- Manipur.
