Accused of Molestation Haobam Ibomcha Produced before Chief Judicial Magistrate Imphal West; Court Remands Five days Police Custody
On Wednesday, Manipur Police Officials led by Addl SP (Crime Against Women) Rattana Ngasepam arrested Haobam Ibomcha, who was absconding after a molestation incident of a student, based on the CCTV footage that went viral on the internet. In its CCTV footage a mid-age person who came in a two-wheeler sexually assaulted a student who was going for tuition at Keishampat Thiyam Leikai IVR.
The accused Haobam Ibomcha Singh, 43, from Lalambung Makhong Takhellambam Leikai, Imphal has also confessed to having committed the crime. A sue moto case has been registered at Imphal PS for further legal action on Wednesday.
Today, the accused was produced before the chief judicial magistrate Imphal West. The hon'ble court has remanded the accused in police custody for five days. The accused Ibomcha will be in police custody till the 10th of October for a further legal proceedings.
Earlier in an exclusive interaction with HY News, the student said she was on her way to her tuition center and she saw the accused person glancing at her on her way. But she didn't know that he was following her and suddenly he groped at her breast taking advantage of the secluded area. The accused was said to be involved in a series of molestation charges before the reported incident. The Imphal West police in its sue moto charges took up the case immediately after the CCTV footage of molestation went viral just after the day of the incident.
In the meantime, taking to Facebook, Chief Minister N. Biren Singh said, “any person involved in such heinous crime will not be spared”. “Please beware, the state police is swift in responding to these crimes”, the Chief Minister said.
