Chief Minister N. Biren Singh on Saturday extends greetings on the occasion of 33rd Loktak Day, says the day is celebrated to acknowledge the significance and raise awareness of the lake.
In a message to the people, the Chief Minister said “Loktak Lake is the soul of Manipur and has played a vital role in the ecological and economic security of the region. It is the cradle of our civilization and a giver of life, sustaining the livelihood of thousands of people in the State”.
“Conserving the lake effectively is one of the priorities of our government and a long-cherished dream of mine”, he said.
Further, he said “to achieve this goal, we need collective efforts since without public support, any conservation and preservation efforts of the lake may end up as futile exercises”.
As part of the occasion, the Loktak Development Authority (LDA) is organising a one-day workshop on ‘Conversation and wise use of Loktak and Associated Lakes’.
