DC Imphal West Imposes Section 144 of Cr. P.C 1973 in Imphal West; Directs House Owners to Mandatorily Do Tenant Verification From Concerned Police Station

Acting on the information laid before the DC Imphal West by the Deputy Inspector General of Police (Int)/Chairman, ILP Monitoring Cell regarding the movement of illegal immigrants and illegal transborder crimes including smuggling of contraband goods and other illegal activities, DC Imphal West Th. Kirankumar imposed Section 144 of Cr. P.C 1973 in Imphal West district on Thursday.
The move has been taken up for two reasons. First, to prevent and control any unlawful and anti-social activity which may cause a breach of peace and annoyance and endanger our national security, and for successful implementation of ILP in the state of Manipur. Secondly, to prevent and foil any likelihood of a serious breach of peace, disturbance to the public tranquility, and grave danger to human lives and properties and stop threats to the business community in Imphal area by the underground elements for payment of extortion.
The DC also continued in his order that checking and detecting violators of ILP guidelines has become very necessary and all the tenants in our state must be verified from time to time as an immediate preventive measure to prevent a breach of peace, disturbance to public tranquility and grave danger to human lives/properties and endanger in our national security and for the safety and security of the house of owners/lessons and the localities in the state.
With all these into consideration, the DC in the exercise of the power conferred under sub-section 1 read with sub-Section 2 imposed Section 144 of the Cr. P.C 1973 and has banned the assembly of five or more persons which is likely to turn up into unlawful activity in the said area.
The order also prohibits carrying of sticks, stones, firearms, and weapons of any other description or objects which can be used as offensive weapons as an immediate preventive measure to prevent a breach of peace, disturbance to public tranquility, and grave danger to human lives and properties.
The DC also directed all the house owners in Imphal West to mandatorily get tenant verification done from the concerned Police Station for the reason of National Security.
