The Manipur state cabinet approved a maximum four-child policy under which parents having more than four children will be forfeit ed of their opportunity to get government jobs and benefits of government schemes on Thursday.
Addressing the media after the state cabinet meeting was held at the Chief Minister Secretariat, State Health Minister Sapam Ranjan informed that under the Manipur State Population Commission, if any father fathers more than four children from now on, no government benefits will be provided to any member of the family.
The Minister further informed that the Manipur Legislative Assembly had earlier unanimously adopted as private member resolution to establish the population commission of the state. It also discussed about rising population of the state and resolved to enforce a strict four-child (maximum) policy under which the government would forfeit opportunities of parents having more than four children.
