Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Monday chaired a meeting of Combined Headquarters (CHQ) in Manipur. The meeting was attended by senior government officials including officials from the army and paramilitary forces.
Addressing the media, the Chief Minister disclosed that the meeting resolved to implement some major steps to restore peace and normalcy in the State.
The Chief Minister announced that all bunkers illegally set up in both hill and valley areas would be dismantle, drone surveys and mass frisking would be carried out in all sensitive areas across the state.
Considering the arrival of monsoon and the need to take up agricultural activities in time, Singh said that around 2,000 security personnel, including Manipur Rifles and IRB, had been mobilised for additional deployment at places adjoining the hill areas, so that agricultural activities could be taken up without any interference.
Maintaining that people were still possessing illegal arms and roaming around in both hill and valley areas, he said the mass frisking would be carried out to check movement of armed miscreants.
