Construction of 800 Prefabricated houses for displaced people in Progress; 9.98 crore estimated cost for 200 house

Construction of 800 prefabricated houses is in progress in three different locations of the Valley region of Manipur. The state government announced to built 3000 to 4000 prefabricated houses for displaced people on June 19th.
Reportedly more than 45,000 people were displaced in the ongoing conflict prevailing in the state since May 03.
Construction of 800 Prefabricated houses altogether is in progress for Yaithibi Loukol (200houses), Sajiwa Sites (200houses), and Kwakta (400 houses) for the first phase of accommodation arrangements for displaced victims of Manipur's Crisis.
P. Brojendra, Superintendent Engineer Police Housing said the construction started on July 23rd and they are targeting to accomplish it by August 15th. The 200 prefabricated houses will accommodate 800 to 1000 displaced victims. The cost for the construction of 200 houses is estimated to be 9.98 crore said the Superintendent Engineer. Brojendra further asserted that it is a temporary arrangement made for displaced victims of ongoing conflict.
All the houses will have a toilet attached per house and water and electricity provision will be arranged.

In response to the escalating violence that has forced people to flee their homes, Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh announced on Monday a comprehensive plan to construct 3,000-4,000 pre-fabricated houses for those affected by the ongoing turmoil in the northeastern state.
During his visit to relief camps, Chief Minister Singh expressed his commitment to swiftly address the housing needs of the displaced individuals. These prefabricated houses, ready-made structures assembled at the designated locations, are expected to be completed within two months, offering temporary accommodation until permanent arrangements can be made to return them to their original dwellings.
