Thoubal District United Women's Organization (Thoubal Ima) question the government that if legalisation of liquor and providing fine quality liquor will decrease the crime and violence against women.

Thoubal District United Women's Development Organization President Sapam Bimola asked the above question on a press meet held at Thoubal District United Women's Organization office at Wabagai. She continued that they will not accept and adhere to this step of legalisation, she acknowledged the government that amidst the movement of banning  using and selling of liquor many suffered cirrhosis and alcohol related diseases claiming many lives in the last 20years. She warned that if the government doesn't revoke it's stand on liquor legalisation, they will launch severe protest.

Attending the press meet Thoubal District United Women's Organization (Thoubal Ima) Secretary Organization Meisnam Malemnganbi pleaded the government to illegalise liquor and revoke it's decision of liquor legalisation for the interest of Manipuri people specially women and children. She also said that amidst the severe movement of banning using and selling of liquor for the last 30years many suffer cirrhosis and fatal diseases which impoverished their family and widowed many women.

She continued that government said that liquor will be produced by licensed producer and will be provided to bar, hotels and licensed shop but neither the government nor the clubs and organisation couldn't completely checked and banned illegal production and selling of untested liquor. Besides government doesn't take any step to banned illegal production, no factory is set up, no testing of liquor by food safety department to brand good quality liquor is done, no awareness is conducted to educate liquor user on its standard use and usable quantities.

She said that government shouldn't be hasty in taking such important decision and Thoubal Ima will not accept such type of hysteric legalisation of liquor without proper policy and programme and pleaded the government to withdraw it's stand on liquor legalisation.
