Hundreds of women questioned on Monday why the combined forces are stopping them from meeting the Chief Minister when they allowed thousands of mothers to meet the CM a week or two ago when the CM was supposed to submit his resignation to the Her Excellency, the Governor.

As per the womenfolks in the protest, they took to streets with the intention to meet CM N.Biren Singh, submit a memorandum and plead him to resolve the conflict at the earliest.

Stating many of my friends became widow, and many others lost their children, a woman in the protest asked the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister how many lives and suffering do the governments at the centre and the state need to initiate the peace process in Manipur.

However, as they began a peaceful rally from Singjamei Market, a combined team of Rapid Action Forces and state forces stopped them at the traffic point of Singjamei Chinga Makhong, Imphal, some few metres away from the market.

Nine mothers who recently lost their husbands and love ones in Khamenlok said that they came here to submit memorandum and speak with the Chief Minister. However, the obstruction of the rally at Chinga Makhong by the combined team of Rapid Action Forces and State Police force has put their peace initiatives unaccomplished.

At this, the mothers said they would not move an inch and sit here at Chinga Makhong till the CM comes and meets the mothers. They want some concrete steps from the side of the government to be taken up to restore peace in Manipur at the earliest or else let the Meiteis act on their will and wage war against the Kukis. Every Meitei man and woman is ready to sacrifice their lives to save Manipur from disintegration. And noone would think it twice to sascrifive their lives, said the mothers.

Meanwhile, some organizers are arranging a meeting of the representatives of mothers with Chief Minister of the state, N. Biren Singh and take a supreme and positive decision for the peace process. However, the mothers said they will never go to meet the CM at His Bunglow, He must come and meet the protesting mother.

The protest rally was organized by Thawai Mirel and Meira Paibis at Singjamei Market on Monday with the intention to submit a memorandum to CM N. Biren Singh and discuss the possible ways forward.
