Commission Inquiry Chairperson Visits Churachandpur; Interacts with the Inmates at Relief Camps

A day after retired justice Ajai Lamba, Chairperson of Commission of Inquiry reached Churachandpur District by chopper at 36 AR Helipad, Headquarters Veng around 10:30 on Friday.

The Chairperson proceeded to Salt Brook School where about 118 IDPs are sheltered. He later visited St. Mary Higher Secondary School where about 175 IDPs are sheltered. He was accompanied by the Deputy Commissioner - Shri Dharun Kumar, the Superintendent of Police- Shri Karthik Malladi, and other line officers.

In an interaction with the inmates in the relief camps, the chairperson explained the mandates of the commission. Further, around 11:30 am, he also interacted with the general public and CSOs, and other stakeholders at 36 AR, Headquarters Veng.

The retired Chief Justice also visited the relief camps set up at Urup OBC Girls Hostel and Sports Hostel No 2, Khuman Lampak on Thursday and had interactions with the displaced people taking shelter there.

Justice Ajai Lamba urged all the inmates to provide their full cooperation during the process in order to expedite the inquiry. He also requested everyone present to join hands in bringing peace in the State.

It may be mentioned that the Central Government appointed 3 member Commission of Inquiry consisting of Honourable Justice Ajai Lamba, former Chief Justice of Gauhati High Court as the Chairperson, Shri Himanshu Shekhar Das, IAS (Retd) and Shri Aloka Prabhakar, IPS (Retd) as members under the provision of the Commissions of Inquiry Act, 1952.
